Kristel Estrella,

Kristel Estrella (she/her) is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Long Island University, Brooklyn, and an advanced clinical extern at Dwellness. Her clinical interests center on health psychology and how mindset and emotions influence the body’s response to stress, pain, and recovery. She has worked with children with special needs as a behavioral therapist assistant and has taught trauma-informed yoga and meditation to people navigating reentry after incarceration or homelessness. She integrates mind–body practices to support resilience and self-regulation in her developing clinical work.

Kristel has long explored the relationship between physical performance, resilience, and mental health. That curiosity guided her into both research and clinical training, where she merges evidence-based tools with an appreciation for the mind–body connection in mindfulness-based interventions. In addition to her doctoral training, Kristel is a certified yoga instructor with advanced credentials in pre- and postnatal yoga, as well as trauma-informed yoga, which deepens her integrative perspective on healing. She believes therapy should be a collaborative environment where people feel supported as they make sense of their experiences and cultivate stronger connections with themselves and others.
